寿司

白飯に酢や塩、砂糖などで調味した酢飯と、魚介類などの具材を組み合わせた料理の総称。小さな酢飯の塊に具材を載せた握り寿司、酢飯を木型に入れて具材を載せ押して作った押し寿司など、多数の種類がある。

Sushi

A general term for a dish in which ingredients such as seafood and sushi rice seasoned with vinegar, salt, and sugar are combined. There are many variations, including nigiri, where ingredients are placed on a small portion of sushi rice, and oshizushi (“pressed sushi”), where a slice of fish and sushi rice are placed in a box and compressed together.
